Aurora is home to over 290,000 residents. The median age is just under 32 years old which is slightly lower than the national average.

The Aurora public school system is served by Aurora Public Schools and Cherry Creek School District totaling 32 Elementary Schools, 7 Middle Schools, 4 High Schools and 2 Alternative Schools. Community College of Aurora provides higher education to the city of Aurora and is also the fastest-growing community college in Colorado. T.H. Pickens Technical Center for high school and post-high school students.

Aurora History


The city of Aurora was founded in 1891 by a successful developer name Donald Fletcher. Fletcher had a vision of developing the prairie land east of Denver and connecting it by a trolley line. His plan was a success as the town grew and changed its name to Aurora in 1907. Aurora was officially recognized as a city by the State of Colorado in 1929.
